We know that taking care of your health involves more than just medicine. With Social Prescribing you can get specialist support for more than medical issues. Your Social Prescriber will contact you and spend time with you exploring what activities and/or local support that could improve your health and wellbeing. We will assist and support you to plan your next steps and goals that you want to address and achieve.
What support can I get?
Contact your surgery and they can connect you to our Social Prescriber Lucy – who will contact you to book an appointment. Or you can discuss this within your next GP/Health care practitioner consultation and they can refer you directly.
It doesn’t replace the medical role of your GP- but is an addition to the service they provide.
“Thanks Lucy, I appreciate all your hard work finding me the support in learning courses, I am looking forward to learning now”
“You can’t always throw tablets at someone and they will get stress free because really your worries and troubles are still there. This is where Lucy came in. Lucy is a Social Prescriber, I’d never heard of one before. She listened to all my problems, from my 24/7 pain, to no money and benefits and housing problems and the list went on. My anxiety attacks, non-existent sleeping- I poured my heart out to her, blurted everything out. She was kind I usually don’t open up easily. Lucy listened -I mean really listened. She was concerned, caring and calming”
“Lucy contacts me regularly… She’s been like a breath of fresh air. She’s given me the tools to take control of my life shown me where to get the skills to get me through things even how to cope in an anxiety attack which are horrendous, to helping me with my housing association and ways to sleep. She has emailed me even a college course I’ve decided to do. Lucy gives me time she focuses on what matters to me, she connects me to community groups, health professionals and most of all emotional support. She’s encouraged me.”
