Emergencies outside of the practice opening hours will be covered by the new ‘NHS 111 service’. In a genuine emergency you should call 999, chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitutes an emergency.
If you require URGENT Medical Assistance when the surgery is closed during normal opening times (for example training days) please telephone OUT OF HOURS SERVICE on 0116 295 0099.
The NHS 111 service is available to all our patient. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobiles telephones – just dial 111.

You can call NHS 111 when you need medical help fast but it is not a 999 emergency. When you call NHS 111, a trained adviser will ask you questions to find out what is wrong, give you medical advice and direct you to someone who can help, like an out-of-hour doctor or a community nurse.
NHS 111 uses Type Talk for people who are hard of hearing, and has interpreters available for calls who do not speak English.

When to use it
You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it’s not a life-threatening situation. Call NHS 111 if:
